Since update, my wifi to my computer is in an infinite reset loop “connection connected” then a second later, “connection deactivated.” What to do??
@louparker Hi, sounds like this? https://forums.opensuse.org/t/iwlwifi-fail-on-latest-tumbleweed/176130 If not need some hardware information…
this is what this looks like. ANy suggestions? Thanks, Malcolm
@louparker so it’s an iwlwifi device? inxi -Nxxz
Device-1: Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210/AX1675 2x2 [Typhoon Peak] driver: iwlwifi
v: kernel pcie: speed: 5 GT/s lanes: 1 bus-ID: 07:00.0 chip-ID: 8086:2725
Device-2: Intel Ethernet I225-V vendor: Gigabyte driver: igc v: kernel
pcie: speed: 5 GT/s lanes: 1 port: N/A bus-ID: 08:00.0 chip-ID: 8086:15f3
Thank you for taking the time to help me with this. I was using Fedora gnome and came back to open suse when plasma 6 came out. My kernel is 6.9.5.1.
@louparker So based on that, you need to follow this post https://forums.opensuse.org/t/latest-tw-update-breaks-my-wifi/176133/3
thank you for trying top help. That removal and replacement did not work. I have included a screen shot of my network setup. The connection-deactivation prompt keeps coming up. When I try to switch to from 2G to 5G in the network config, the same thing happens. What is the “lo” connection in the network config. Thanks!!!
Also, I have no wifi problems to my laptop, TV, or cellphones. It just keeps popping up every two seconds and I get no help from the network manager. I don’t think that it is a motherboard firmware issue. I really don’t want to reinstall the entire OS. I love Open Suse Plasma. Never had a problem with Gnome Fedora. Thanks so much for your attention.
The WiFi issues with AX210/211 described, e.g., at 1226544 – Snapshot 20240618, kernel 6.9.5, breaks Intel AX210 WiFi connection / kernel-firmware-iwlwifi issue, are fixed with kernel 6.9.6, which will be delivered by TW20240625, if it passes openQA. You might want to give it a try directly from https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard/
Thanks so much. Appreciate the help.
So, is WiFi working fine with kernel 6.9.6?
Yes!!! Finally had a chance to install the new kernel. It seems to be stable! So thank you for all your help.
you had this issue, too…
