Strange behavior of Login Notification sound of KDE

I am using Tumbleweed. Recently I noticed strange behavior of the KDE notification sound, specially logon sound. I set logon and logout sounds by using KDE setting of notifications. After booting the system, in first logon there is no sound (no chime) then I log out and log in, it plays sound (or chimes).

Does any of you notice this, And any idea what is happening?.

I already read some topics. But funny thing is “Boot / login / logout / login”. Then it works fine.

That’s because PipeWire socket activation has kicked in already in that scenario. Enable the user service explicitly as described elsewhere if the login sound is important to you.

I was having the same issue (maybe last 5-10 months) never bothered to look into the problem. Didn’t see previous thread back in Oct 2025, but read it and used this command

systemctl --user enable --now pipewire.service

I now have my login sound back, the logout sound never left though.

Thanks for pointing out those old threads hui
