openSUSE Leap 16 .iso repositories question

Hi, I downloaded the net install and offline install of the openSUSE Leap 16 .iso image
from the Downloads link of this forum. The net install is a no go. It ends up with just a blank screen (black) with blinking cursor. The offline installer can only go upto this line:

 A start job is running for /dev/mapper/live-rw (42s/ 50min)

I did the nomodeset in the kernel lines and no go.

Now I want to try another download on this site.
https://download-repositories.opensuse.org/download/distribution/openSUSE-current/offline/
Is this a valid site to download the offline iso?
I can see also the sha 256 to check my download in that site.
I will be using aria2c this time.

Thanks in advance.

Overall, I’m a bit confused. The Title refers to ā€œrepositories questionā€, but you don’t refer to any repos in the Post body.

Anyway, you didn’t clarify ā€œwhatā€ is happening.

  • For (1) and (2), is the failure during the installation?
  • Or does the install complete, but the newly installed system will not boot?

If it is failing during the installation process, to ā€œwhatā€ are you installing?

  • To a virtual machine image?
  • Or to a machine’s dedicated disk (hard drive, etc)?

If installing to a machine’s dedicated disk, did you write the ISO image to a thumb-drive? If yes, how did you write the image to the thumb-drive? (The ā€˜dd’ command? A thumb-drive burner tool?)

And yes, I would say the URL you show to download the ISO is valid.

I didn’t elaborate much because my main question is if the download site I linked is ok to use. See the last link on my previous post.
Anyhow I use dd, susestudio still didn’t get to install. I want to see if downloading from the said site will yield a good iso.

If you follow all the other links on this site (legal notice, report issue, source code, reports, shortcuts), and most importantly the menu in the upper right corner, you will find that this is an official openSUSE site.

The link provides the official openSUSE ISOs and packages.

Thanks, I missed that part :relieved:

Correct … as I wrote previously, that URL looks valid.

(I use mirrors that are close to me - to confirm, your URL shows the same list as my two local mirrors).
