Something weird happen when I did the last update and I had to select “Wayland” to be able to boot in and continue the update.
Anyhow I see weird rending issues and OBS stop working and I just want to switch back to X, how can I do this?

Do this at your login screen. Select the required session.
Were u kicked out of the session when u were doing the update ?
@oneman yes, It did a reboot, then I was presented with some error it could not find some file and each time I tired to login it would just reboot. Then I noticed at the top left corner some dropdown, so I selected Wayland and this allowed me to login. First time around, all I got was a complete black screen, no launchbar at the bottom. However my hotkeys continue to work and I could open the terminal and brower, zypper was not available.
So I then had to reinstall zypper using a RPM download, what a hot mess. After this I continue with the update process a few times more.
This is the 2nd time in 2 week zypper had pooched the update process and deleted itself, this is unacceptable.
Thanks @deano_ferrari was able to login using X, I didn’t see the option at first. OBS is working again!
Thanks for the update. Glad to read of your success with this.
Do you use a VT (also known as TTY) session to do your upgrades as recommended?

Yes I have been doing all my upgrades like this from the terminal since day 1, there is no excuse for deleting zypper during an upgrade.
If this would really be the case, a bugreport would be needed. With logs and such…
@devguy also what snapshot release where you upgrading from, recent, old?
libzypp was apparently updated with snapshot 20240309, just after the virtiofs problem in snapshot 20240308, so this seems an aftershock similar to

@OrsoBruno yes, if one is going to skip snapshots, best to check what has been done between X and Y via the announcements (and forum posts) as to what you may hit, likewise, I would download first, switch to a VT, isolate the graphical target and then zypper dup
@malcolmlewis from recent update, I usually dup every few days. I already did the fix for virtiofs which you help me with here
