video players not working after fresh install of openSUSE 10

After a fresh install of openSUSE-10.3-GM-i386.iso none of the
video players xine, kmplayer, kplayer, smplayer & totem are
working. All of them were installed via ‘Install Software’
These are the error messages.
1)Xine: Xine engine error: no demuxer plugin available to
hancle /media/VideoCD/vcd. Frmat was not recognized.
2)smplayer: MPlayer has finished unexpectedly. Exit code 127.
3)kmplayer: mplayer not running. Setting —> Source —>URL
showed both MPlayer & Xine, but I could not
choose the option. Setting —> General showed lots
of information under MPlayer, but Xine was vacuous.

As a check I tried to open ‘mplayer’, but it refused to open,
though the icon was perfectly visible without any blemish.

I faced the same problem on debian-4.0r0-i386-netinstall.iso
Etch platform. There also the packages were installed via
Synaptic.

Is the problem with the packages on linux in general?

However, what shall be my course of action?

P.Rudra.

The same thing it’s happening with my SMplayer,Mplayer,VLC and Totem.I using openSuSE 11.0.>:(

Follow the** principles** of this guide. But replace the repos with 10.3 versions

Thanks very much.

Kmplayer is now working fine.

Smplayer is playing only the first track automatically and then is repeating it again. The second and subsequent tracks can be played only by right-clicking of the mouse and manually choosing the tracks. Can it be corrected?

MPlayer is now appearing, but is giving Error: ioctl dif 1: input/output error and is then reverting back to the blue dialog screen om MPlayer.

Though my need will be satisfied by Kmplayer, I shall Smplayer and MPlayer to be acting perfectly.

Thanks again.
P.Rudra.

try
switch the output video mode of your multimedia player from “auto” or from “xv” (xvideo) to “x11”
