Great in it's simplicity !!! It's easy to get a mix of Videolan en Packman packages. Finally sorted some minor things out this way.
I copied this excellent how-to of caf4926 to the reviewed how-to area:

That "reviewed" how-to is "locked". This current "un-reviewed" thread will remain open for comments.
Many thanks to caf4926 for his guide.
Thanks Lee.
Just wish I could edit some of my HowTo's to keep them spot on and up to date. I made a suggestion about this:

Thanks for this useful how-to.
Just a remark: Don't you think you should put libavcodec52 instead of libavcodec51 ?

I have a problem when following this guide.
I followed the guide up to the point where we're supposed to select Package -> All in This List -> Update if newer version available. I get a list of dependency errors as expected, but none of the resolution options mentions a "Vendor Change". Almost all of them are just "Do not install". Here's the dependency checker output.
I'm on openSuse 11.1 and I've just got the Nvidia driver and Compiz installed and set up (if that's likely to make any difference).Code:#### YaST2 conflicts list - generated 2009-02-27 18:01:18 #### nothing provides libltdl.so.3()(64bit) needed by sox-14.2.0-2.pm.2.x86_64 [ ] do not install sox-14.2.0-2.pm.2.x86_64 nothing provides python-imaging needed by hplip-3.9.2-9.pm.10.x86_64 [ ] do not install hplip-3.9.2-9.pm.10.x86_64 nothing provides libiso9660.so.5()(64bit) needed by libxine1-codecs-1.1.16.2-0.pm.1.x86_64 [ ] do not install libxine1-1.1.16.2-0.pm.1.x86_64 nothing provides libiso9660.so.5()(64bit) needed by libxine1-codecs-1.1.16.2-0.pm.1.x86_64 [ ] do not install libxine1-gnome-vfs-1.1.16.2-0.pm.1.x86_64 nothing provides libiso9660.so.5()(64bit) needed by libxine1-codecs-1.1.16.2-0.pm.1.x86_64 [ ] do not install libxine1-pulse-1.1.16.2-0.pm.1.x86_64 libschroedinger-1_0-0-1.0.5-42.pm.4.x86_64 requires liboil-0_3-0, but this requirement cannot be provided uninstallable providers: liboil-0_3-0-0.3.15-0.pm.3.i586[Packman] liboil-0_3-0-0.3.15-0.pm.3.x86_64[Packman] [ ] downgrade of liboil-0.3.15-1.35.x86_64 to liboil-0_3-0-0.3.15-0.pm.3.x86_64 [ ] do not install libschroedinger-1_0-0-1.0.5-42.pm.4.x86_64 [ ] Ignore some dependencies of libschroedinger-1_0-0 #### YaST2 conflicts list END ###
EDIT: Oh and I'm on 64 bit.
Any advice?
