On Myrlyn, I notice that I am missing out on a lot of updates relating to various QT6 packages, as shown in the screenshot below:
I cannot update them through zypper dup. Last time I tried to go through the update process (just clicking option 1 to deinstall other packages), led me to two other issues I am current troubleshooting relating to the boot efi and graphics drivers. Should I even be updating this packages, or should I just ignore them for the time being?
From a console window, run zypper dup and show us the output. Hard to diagnose without understanding what’s happening when you try to do an update. You can do it with --dry-run to not apply changes and it should still show most (if not all) of the messages you’d get.
Sure, fair enough. Trying to see if these packages appear in terminal, I do not get any of the QT6 packages that Myrlyn mentions has future versions to update to:
sudo zypper dup
[sudo] password for root:
Refreshing service 'NVIDIA'.
Refreshing service 'openSUSE'.

Now the reason why the output mentions Nvidia is due to me troubleshooting around the driver issue I mentioned earlier, unrelated to the QT6 issue, I think.
Without the Nvidia updates, sudo zypper dup typically returns nothing. Likewise, trying to perform it in Myrlyn marks all the packages with a squirmy face. So if the terminal does not bring the QT6 packages up, Myrlyn says they have updates available, but will not let me update them regularly (zypper dup), should I be concerned? These updates have been present for about 1-2+ weeks for me. I fear I might run into incompatibility issues if I don’t upgrade these packages.
sudo zypper dup
Refreshing service 'NVIDIA'.
Refreshing service 'openSUSE'.

Nothing to do.
Here it is without all the nvidia stuff, no mention of QT6. Myrlyn still says updates for it are available.
Perhaps you have Pakman active on Myrlyn?
I can check but I never installed packman on my system ever.
Double checked, I do not. I do not even have the repo added. Here are all my repos though:

Where does it say the updates are coming from?
At the bottom of the Myrlyn screen, select “Versions” and see where it says it’s suggesting an update would come from, as well as which repo the installed version is coming from.
I’m thinking maybe it’s coming from your update-slowroll repo, which has a repo priority of 80, so it may be that the priority is preventing it from being selected by default unless you tell it to allow vendor change.
Your guess is correct, most of the updates are coming from the update-slowroll repo:
For more information, when trying to force the update, the following conflict/error occurs:
Effectively it is asking me to remove the desktop environment.
This is normal in this month’s Slowroll. It has nothing to do with Packman or any other repo.
The blue version number indicates that there is a newer version available; that is the extent of the available information as far as Myrlyn knows. But other packages that those blue ones also need are not (yet) available in a newer version, so trying to update those in this list fails, and you get the sad face emoji.
This is a byproduct of having to “cut off” the set of new packages to include in this month’s Slowroll snapshot: The release manager (Bernhard) has to stop somewhere to add updates to get a consistent snapshot. Sometimes that means a handful of leftover packages, sometimes none, and sometimes - like here - a whole lot.
zypper -lu doesn’t show them as update candidates because it implicitly runs the dependency resolver to find out. Myrlyn can’t simply do that because it would take effect immediately, and it might change other packages as well before you even hit the “Dist-Upgrade” or “Package Update” button: Unlike Myrlyn, zypper -lu operates on a temporary copy of the libzypp database that is dismissed immediately after the check. Myrlyn has to keep its data because you might have invested time and work for pending changes.
The problem usually resolves itself when the next Slowroll snapshot is released some time near the middle of the month.

Side note: When posting Myrlyn screenshots, please don’t cut off the top right corner that contains the version number: That helps others to check if you are using the most recent version. That’s why I put that number there.

Thank you very much for the explanation! I’ll try to include the version number when taking future screenshots. I was on 1.0.0.
I was just informed that the March Slowroll update will arrive later today. That will probably resolve this problem - and the sad faces.

The March Slowroll update arrived. It’s a lot of updated packages this time: 2627 on my desktop PC, 2900+ on my laptop. Don’t be surprised.
And no more sad faces in Myrlyn now.
