I shared my joy in the Spanish forum a few days ago, (https://forums.opensuse.org/t/el-teclado-kde-espanol-ingles-de-linux-de-mis-suenos/194904 ), thought I should pass on the good news in English Open Chat, too.:
I write regularly in English and Spanish, had felt frustrated by the bother of switching between two KDE keyboards to type Spanish accented characters, quotation marks and apostrophes. I had searched the list of KDE keyboards, thought that the best I could do was: English (US, intl., with dead keys) … which didn’t do apostrophes without a second keypress, and only managed quotation marks via Alt-Shift-quotation mark. A pain.
I decided to sample every likely keyboard on the list, and found I hadn’t searched hard enough. At the bottom of the English(US) list, I found:
English (US, intl., AltGr Unicode combining)
and this is now the only keyboard I have to use. For the first time, I can type:
The full name of Spain’s prime minister is “Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón.”
with apostrophe, quotation marks and accents, without changing keyboards in KDE.
Now you know.
