I found this a very interesting thread.
I must admit however, that I am not keen on all of the apps on the list. I kinda picked and choose those that I wanted.
I do, however, appreciate very much, the effort that has gone into putting together such a list. It is a very good, quick and easy way to get to see what multimedia apps are out there for linux, especially for those new to OpenSuse or linux generally.

I haven’t tested, but I think it will not work with 11.2.
This is the light version of the multimedia pack portable for opensuse, this version is only 73 mb in size, once installed all the packages of the list the user will be capable of:
Play all the video or audio formats (vlc, mplayer and xine).
Edit audio files, convert between formats and record from a microphone (audacity).
Edit video files and convert between video formats (avidemux).
Create DVD from video files (ManDVD and DEVEDE)
Backup originals DVD to DVD5 and rip parts of the DVD to video files (Dvdrip and k9copy).
Rip audio CD and burn CD and DVD (k3b).
