Multimedia pack portable or openSUSE 11.1 32 bit

I have created a Multimedia Pack portable for OpenSUSE 11.1 32 bit, the included programs and codecs are:

  1. kchmviewer
  2. mplayer, mplayer plugin
  3. audacious
  4. k3b, k3b-codecs
  5. sox
  6. devede
  7. audacity
  8. avidemux, gtk qt
  9. ffmpeg
  10. transcode
  11. ntfs-config
  12. vlc
  13. libdvdcss
  14. w32codecs
  15. xine, libxine1*
  16. xmms, xmms-*
  17. dvdShrink
  18. k9copy
  19. Gtkpod
  20. Acetoneiso
  21. furiusisomount
  22. DVD::RIP
  23. Amarok
  24. Kaffeine
  25. kmplayer
  26. Kdvdcreator
  27. K3guitune
  28. Kino
  29. ManDVD
  30. Kguitar
  31. Mjpegtools
  32. Soundconverter
  33. Kdenlive
  34. Asunder
  35. Brasero
  36. Smplayer
  37. LMMS
  38. Isomaster
  39. Mediainfo
  40. DVD2Xvid
  41. recordMyDesktop
  42. Gstreamer*
  43. Mixxx, Mixxx-skin*
  44. Djplay
  45. Ardour
  46. Soundreced

you can install any of the above without internet, they include all the dependencies, just unzip the both files into a folder named MMP2008 and create a repository from that folder as a simple rpm folder in yast, then make a search in the yast installer with the name of the program and check it to install it, this is very important if you dont have internet at home, and besides, by default OpenSUSE 11.1 doesnt include several codecs due to license matters.

The pack is available at:

I have one suggestion, why don’t you add DVDstyler to your package. This is an exillent program for building DVD and it will enhance your project.

I just tried to download the 64bit version from your site, and got an error - invalid file.

Is the 64bit available or haven’t you got around to building it yet?

Thanks once again for providing this bunch of packages, it certainly makes re-installing a breeze :).

Thanks Easgs.

I downloaded the entire package as you suggested, (with 56k…might as well not have internet:-)), created the MMP2008 folder as you suggested, but I am having a difficult time understanding how to create the simple RPM directory.

I am new to this and don’t quite understand a) how to make a URL that Yast will recognize b), which portions of the pack to use once I do get the URL right to make things like Amarok work.

Help for a newbie, please:-).

Hi and welcome to the forum, in the MMP blog there is a video tutorial, this video can help you to setup the portable repo and to install a program from the pack, in the pack there is a txt file with the list of the included programs, just make a search in yast as shown in the video to install the programs you need, this is the link to the video tutorial

MMP2008HowTODivx.zip

This video is also available at:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxWwod-VB0w)

But the first one has much more quality

According to some test I have made, you can download the entire pack in a cibercafe in about 1:30 hours and the video in about 5 minutes, this is faster than using a 56k connection.
