I haven’t read the whole thread yet, but are you maybe using Secure Boot?

In Leap 15.2, the kernel only allows to load signed kernel modules then.

The G05 packages have been updated to account for this, but I’m not sure about G04.

I think no! Otherwise I would have noticed it. Every time I boot my computer in regular way, without any warnings-notifications about booting in Secure mode.

I have no experience with Secure Boot, so I don’t know if you would get any “warnings” about it.

You may have a look in the EFI settings though, maybe it shows up there and can be disabled.

wolfi323 in Bugzilla, they don’t recommend switching secure boot off in UEFI (topic, link to which was given by you above).
I also tried this time enrolling key after installation and reboot, with no success again…

Before enrolling key, modprobe nvidia showed the following error:
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert ‘nvidia’:** Operation not permitted**

After enrolling key, modprobe nvidia shows different error:
modprobe: ERROR: could not insert ‘nvidia’:** No such device**

No, but it would have been a good way to test whether this is the problem.

I assume the latest comment on the bug report was by you.
You should mention then that you are using the G04 driver.

Yes it’s mine. No when I was issuing modprobe that time I had G05 installed. Another thing, I gave them not actual error! Am going to correct there.

Didn’t you write earlier that G05 didn’t work with your card?

I’m trying both G05 and G04 just in case. Of course one by one, not simultaneously. And both of them are not working for me. So each suggestion given here I checked with each of them. Again, just in case.
The reason is: on Leap 15.1 G04 worked fine for me. While in theory, G05 matches better my 600 series vcard.

Thanks to wolfi323 who gave me the hint!
So I removed G05, rebooted and Deleted G05 key in MOK window, then installed G04 with Enrolling key. Yes! The driver is active! It seems yesterday I tried the same procedure but apparently I did anything wrong. But now it turned out right. Thanks to everybody for help!

No, for GF108 you need G04, G05 have no support for it.

GT 630 cards have 4 distinct chips:

  • 6 The GeForce GT 630 (DDR3, 128-bit, retail) card is a rebranded GeForce GT 430 (DDR3, 128-bit).
  • 7 The GeForce GT 630 (GDDR5) card is a rebranded GeForce GT 440 (GDDR5).

Fermi works with G04 only, Kepler with both G04 and G05.

To clear the things up, have just made a test for G04 and G05 drivers with my NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 630] (rev a1) videocard.
With enrolling new keys and deleting previous keys, as soon as I use Secureboot.
So after the test I can confirm that my vcard works with only G04. G05 refuses working.

So it’s PCI ID is not in the G05 list… thanks for the feedback. Might be time to start budgeting for a later card (with more cuda cores)?
