Just realised (lol) I have no dolphin thumbnails for regular graphics files, etc, despite having kdegraphics-thumbnailers installed. Tooltips works fine and is useful for identifying without clicking but not as useful as a visual preview thumbnail. Is it doable yet, or am I missing something again?
there is an extra button you need to push to show thmbs, also go to configure dolphin and select what files you want thumbs displayed for, atm I’m not on my Linux but I do believe you can chose comics, pdf/djvu documents, images and videos, but I am on plasma 5.5
it works good, it’s just we wore used to thumbs being on by default, you might need to install extra handlers to get support for all formats you can search yast for it, I do believe I saw an epub thumbnailer but at moment I don’t have epub’s to test it.
Install these packages: “ffmpegthumbs, kde-mplayer-thumbnailer, kdegraphics-thumbnailers, kdegraphics-strigi-analyzer” and plasma should display every thumbnails you have configured to preview!
there are quite a few more thumbnailer’s in KDE:Extra http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Extra/openSUSE_Leap_42.1/
you can get:
kde-thumbnailer-po kde-thumbnailer-wmf kde-thumbnailer-rtf kde-thumbnailer-webp kde-thumbnailer-ooxml kde-thumbnailer-fb2 kde-thumbnailer-apk kde-thumbnailer-chm kde-thumbnailer-epub kde-thumbnailer-msoole
to install them add KDE:Extra (For Leap)
zypper ar -f http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Extra/openSUSE_Leap_42.1/KDE:Extra.repo
zypper in kde-thumbnailer-po kde-thumbnailer-wmf kde-thumbnailer-rtf kde-thumbnailer-webp kde-thumbnailer-ooxml kde-thumbnailer-fb2 kde-thumbnailer-apk kde-thumbnailer-chm kde-thumbnailer-epub kde-thumbnailer-msoole
