thanks Carl for all your previous efforts and this info with warning…i
have questions, please:
and
i’m kinda looking to move a well running, very stable 11.4 into
Evergreen, and “test” the openSUSE LTS for a year or two…but, would
mixing in 4.8/9 be ill advised?
uncharted waters, for me (preferring stable to bleeding)…

@DD
Knowing your fetish for all things stable, I’d be inclined to say No.
Rather in your case, I’d say (because I know it’s well within your skill set) to try your plans in a test partition.
All in all R48 should be good for you.
R49 is actually still a copy of Factory as far as I can see, but it basically what we’ll have on 4.9 release proper on Aug 1st
R4.8.4 is very stable for me in 5 computers running oS 11.4 and 12.1 with NVidia and ATI graphics, and it was noticeably faster than 4.6/4.7 loading apps. Dolphin works better also, less issues with drag-and-drop to hotspots. I only miss in-line editing of folder/filenames in Dolphin.
Thanks for the heads up - I hadn’t seen this repo. I did an update from 12.2 rc1 and it all worked fine.
Im glad to see that KDE 4,9 is already available but i
m waiting for the final release

probably best… thanks.

Might go unsaid but just to be sure for KDE 4.8 users remove the 48 repo after switching to 4.9?
lol
Goes without saying…
Thanks though

4.9.0 proper is finally with us
Enjoy…
Just a warning to those who might not notice: As of now (Aug 3rd), the repo R49 is still on 4.8.97. That would make the version provided some Release Candidate, but not the final release.
Can’t wait to try out the final product!
No
It’s been 4.9.0 for a couple of days
4.9.00 “release 555”

As far as I know, 4.9 is fully built for only x86_64 on 12.1 at the
moment, i586 packages for 12.1 and both architectures for 12.2 are not yet
fully built and will take a little bit longer to complete.
The build service admins gave the building a small boost a couple of days
ago by increasing the build priority however with a service restart the
build priority is now low again on the K:R:49 project, be patient please

Actually yes, you are correct. I did see that in the ML but forgot…
No 4.9.0 for oS 11.4 64-bit?
Today i upgrade KDE to 4.9.0 and have a confict:
Problem: nothing provides kdeartwork4-wallpapers = 4.9.0 needed by kdeartwork4-wallpapers-weather-4.9.0-199.1.noarch Solution 1: deinstallation of kdeartwork4-wallpapers-weather-4.8.4-186.1.noarch
Solution 2: keep obsolete kdeartwork4-wallpapers-weather-4.8.4-186.1.noarch
Solution 3: break kdeartwork4-wallpapers-weather-4.9.0-199.1.noarch by ignoring some of its dependencies
What should I do in this situation? Please help
the answer is
Solution 2: keep obsolete kdeartwork4-wallpapers-weather-4.8.4-186.1.noarch
Upgrade from KDE 4.8 to 4.9 was totally painless
Thanks for the heads-up caf4926
Upgraded to Kde 4.9 and EXTRA repositories.
So far so good (is not revolutionary, though) …
not revolutionary, though
I suggest you borrow a windows PC and then re-evaluate your comment
