How/where to change email address for responses

Trying to change email address in my profile. Got onto Profile —> Preferences.
On that page it looks like you can only change your picture. I can see my email but not edit it. I can save changes but can’t make any.

thanks, tom kosvic

@tckosvic The login system is independent from the forum, you need to go to the IDP Self Help portal as detailed in the Forum FAQ’s;
https://forums.opensuse.org/faq

Note this is not just for the Forum, but openSUSE Infrastructure wide, also if you have any bugs, you need to get it changed there as well…

I would suggest that the information that info on the Profile/Preferences page cannot be edited be put on the “Preferences” page along with a link to where you need to go to change any of your information. Might save repetitions of my query in the future.

Could also remove the “save” button since you can’t edit anything.

I am unsuccessful finding a username/pw that logs me into idp-portal.suse.com.
Keep getting: “Either username or password is incorrect or you are not allowed to use this service” on any of the openSUSE logins I have, i.e. forums, build.
These idp dialogues keep referencing employees, I assume I am not considered an employee.

If I go to create new account for idp do I affect all my other openSUSE logins?
How to create idp login w/o changing other logins?

thanks, tom kosvic

@tckosvic Don’t create another account, it’s the same login as here… Select “Your Profile” can you login there?

@tckosvic Basically everything (including OBS and bugzilla) use your current account- but depending on the service different login frontends are used (id.o.o, login2.o.o etc.)

So one change affects everything…

We provide this information at FAQ - openSUSE Forums

We also answer, in the FAQ, why we don’t implement most suggestions. In this case, could we modify the code to implement the suggestions you made? Probably, but then we’d have to maintain the changes every time we update the forum software, which isn’t practical.

The FAQ link is visible on every page if you have the left navigation panel open - it’s under the “openSUSE Resources” section:

I may be very dense, but I don’t see where I could change my email on that page ( https://idp-portal.suse.com/ )

I can create an account, which I don’t want.

The “profile” sections has my phone number but nothing about my current email.

For e-mail address changes, you need to contact admin (at) opensuse (dot) org.

Good to know.

Any chance the Forum FAQ could be amended ?

I’ll take a look at it later today. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, so far sending an email to “admin” has been unproductive.

No reply whatsoever.

I’ve used both my old and new email address, just in case there could be doubts about me acutally being me.

I’ll give’em another week I guess.

@robert_spitzenpfeil I would give it longer… I can see your two tickets, no one has picked them up yet…

Hi!

I tried to change my account’s mail address. I followed FAQ - openSUSE Forums amd ended up at Password Settings – however, there is no appearent way to change my mail there, as far as I can see. Maybe we should put the information on how to change the mail more prominently in the FAQ or correct it if

If, for some reason, you want to change your name or email address, visit SUSE Community Accounts self-service page

is not correct.

There is Change E-Mail Address on this page and at least it offers the possibility to enter the new address. I am not going to try it

Hm. The German translation “protect account access” is at least misleading if that is to be the way to alter an e-mail address.

I was brave enough to click it, but it reads (in German again):

Everyone forgets their password sometimes. Protect yourself and activate the option to renew your password.

In English, it’s a different message, but still confusing:

Not sure if “Username” and “E-Mail address” are synonymous in this case (although there are account nicknames).

It seems that in the meantime a “change email address” option has been added to the id-portal.

Let’s see how that goes. The new email address was added & verified, but hasn’t propagated to bugzilla & forum yet.

Because of the way in which SSO is set up, it should transfer over once you’ve authenticated to each of those systems. There’s no background process with OpenID Connect to “sync” the IdP information - it’s the act of logging into those systems using SSO that should update that info.

I don’t know what the old/new addresses are on your account (I can see the current setting, but not the history).

If it’s still not correct, then you will need to open a progress ticket by e-mailing admin (at) opensuse (dot) org.

The forum has finally picked up my new email address.

Bugzilla still has not.
