So Iḿ trying to install Geekos. The oneclick install button leads me to a page with raw html code. I have tried all the security options firefox allows, including the custom one with everything unchecked.
I think there is a problem with the website because it loads really slow and every oneclick install doesn’t work and it the html does not appear to really do much.
Sorry I am talking about GeekosDaw, the audio production thing. I left out the Daw part. On my defense imma say that the wiki is called geekoswiki lol. Very similar name to gecko-y stuff.
Nope, it’s the group working on Pro-Audio. They AFAIK now push to the multimedia repo. The website if fully outdated (mentions Leap 15.2 and 15.3, which are long gone.
If you right click and save as on the 1 click install link, it will save the ymp to your system. You should then be able open it with the 1 click install program via your file manager.
I won’t use them anyway, just looked at the webpage. Reason: I want to know what happens to my system, so I only use zypper. Occasionaly discover for flatpaks, firmware. That said, even for those I check from a terminal window.
It adds a repo and some pattterns. I know because I use geekosdaw myself but it’s also transparent, as ymp are plain text files. If you can be bothered to read them. No need for FUD.
I know how things work in openSUSE. ymp is strictly YaST Software Manager bound. And TW users should not use YaST Software Manager, since it is not aware of TW’s release model. No FUD in what I said.
It was FUD because you implied that using an ymp file was somehow making an non transparent change to your sentence. You’re now moving the goalpost again. I have used the ymp file on tumbleweed, without a problem. If there is a better way, then feel free to share. I believe the OP was asking for help and not exclusively reasons to not do something
@Largos No, anecdotal experience has shown many issues with ymp and 1-click (opi is in there too) files adding additional repositories to a users system and not realizing…
Likewise, it’s still a third party repository and not recommended…
@kill_it here in the Forum, y’all provide a third party website/repository, just like packman. If somethings broken, it’s not this openSUSE Support forum to fix or arrange to fix, the end user needs to contact geekosdaw.
Nothing is broken with geekosdaw. The browser(s) which opensuse provides does not open the file format that opensuse provides, in the software opensuse provides, like it used to. If you want to be pedantic, the OP is asking for support using opensuse’s applications to add a repo and not for support with anything in the third party repo itself.
Not that you need to do any support anyway. I posted a solution that works but two admin want to, without any justification, pick at it and not even offer an alternative solution.
