Yeah so that dup borked my graphics, had to revert to the previous snapshot. I’m on G06. Do you have experience with G07, should I switch? I am still quite stumped when it comes to the nvidia drivers. I thought nvidia-open-driver-G06-signed-kmp-meta and nvidia-userspace-meta-G06 have to be in sync. But they are not on my currently functional system. The available newer versions would also not be in sync. The available G07 variants, however, would also not be in sync. So do I just keep checking Myrlyn until some day the packages happen to be in sync and then I dup?
This sounds really good! I will try that straight after the next successful dup.
Please open a new thread in the HW category to attract relevant experts and start by posting inxi -Gaz and zypper se -si nvidiaand possibly also zypper -vvv dup --dry-run
The meta packages does not have to have the same number. The meta packages take care that the kmp and userspace drivers are in sync. Completely properly and working set of drivers on TW…

Yes, of course, that was off-topic. I just noticed some Nvidia knowledgeable people had responded, so I tried to sneak my other issue in. ![]()
Here’s the dedicated thread.
Thanks for helping me out!
error returns again…

So…
(post must be at least 10 characters)
Adding
sudo zypper addlock ffmpeg-8-mini-libs
made no difference for me, still getting the same issues when attempting
sudo zypper dup
Please post the command line, the full output and the trailing prompt.

Solution 2: install libavcodec62-8.1-2.1.x86_64 from vendor openSUSE
replacing libavcodec62-8.1-1699.3.pm.28.x86_64 from vendor http://packman.links2linux.de

Solution 4: break ffmpeg-8-mini-libs-8.1-2.1.x86_64 by ignoring some of its dependencies

Apparently there is something going on with package dependencies, see boo 1261836
Wait for snapshot TW20260418 later today that should include a fix.
Snapshot TW20260418 seems to have solved the issue for me.
ffmpeg-8 from the main repository seems to lack the H.264 VAAPI and QSV encoders. Does that count as special requirements? Hardware video encoding is an essential part of my workflow, and since H.264 playback is supported almost everywhere, it would not be such a great idea to resort to alternative formats. So, at least for me, Packman is needed. It is not absolutely required, however, as there are also static FFmpeg builds with hardware encoding support available.
Yeah, same here, it’s working now. Big thanks to whoever has managed to resolve this, even if the fix is temporary.
Please see Software_which_is_encumbered_by_patent_claims and note the x264, x265 line.
Also for me about the well known problem “this-is-only-for-build-envs”: It was necessary to wait for the new release, thanks to the maintainers

I hit this problem in my two older computers yesterday afternoon, my '12 Mac Pro and my newer '20 Sys76 Gazelle . . . even though I had upgraded them a week or so back. From senior memory I recalled that the “solution” provided for my newest machine was “changing vendor” away from Packman, and as the machines are now infrequently used I decided to wing it . . . on the 7 or so “problems” that required a solution.
The first 6 or so showed “option 2” as . . . “change vendor to OpenSUSE” . . . so I selected “2” and clicked through to the last remaining problem . . . one of them was “remove a package . . .xxxx” . . . the next was “keep obsolete xxx” . . . and one was ??? cancel??? After trying one of them that led to more “problems” . . . I picked “remove one package xxx” . . . and then was able to run through approx 554 packages to upgrade . . . .
Back over in TW on my new DIYer I just checked my YaSt repos . . . and there I now have Packman unchecked, or unenabled . . . I didn’t full on remove it. Probably in my older machines Packman is still enabled . . . senior moment, I forgot to uncheck it after “changing vendor to OpenSuse.”
Come on down . . . no waiting required . . . pick some “solutions” . . . packages can always be added or removed if an issue appears . . . .
Yes, updated today and all is good again
