After updating to 20261009 release, my WiFi won't work

I updated to 20261009 release and my system won’t connect to WiFi at all. The system froze for a while (2-3 minutes) and after that I am able to click System Tray network icon. The following message appears: NetworkManager 0.9.8 required, found . My motherboard does not have builtin WiFi, so I am using a separate USB WiFi adapter . I tried reinstalling the update twice, but the issue persists.
In addition, there has been long time the case where binutils-package does not update at all, I have answered always i) ignore and system seem to work despite that.

You start your PC, than you have the timeout before you can work with it?

My system setup is the following: https://paste.opensuse.org/pastes/cb74f59b2bf5

When I boot up and get the desktop up and running then there is 2-3 minutes froze of user interface. After that 2-3 minutes, I can operate the desktop, but without network and there is text “NetworkManager 0.9.8 required, found .” when I press the network icon.
But using the AI, it instructed me to start NetworkManager service by hand and check the journalctl logs. So I will update the system again and check logs if that helps the case.

Ok, I updated ‘zypper dup’ and got the following information using
systemctl and journalctl https://paste.opensuse.org/pastes/b630ff804d2f

Same phenomenon as before: the desktop froze for a while. The terminal was working, but running ‘sudo systemctl’ caused bash to freeze as well due to sudo. However, I was able to run commands without sudo in new terminal tab.

You did not update for > 1 month

@knurpht US date? YYYY/MM/DD

I know, but this is how the TW snapshots are named, why would I make it confusing by calling those DDMMYYYY. Your slashes should not be there BTW :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
From @Tame’s 1st paste: openSUSE Tumbleweed 20260822

Yep, that have I done, didn’t update regulary, lat update was on August. My bad :frowning: obviously.

TW is rolling, but Aug should not be a problem. Show:
sudo journalctl -u NetworkManager --since 2026-08-01
`

Sorry, I upgraded already with latest snapshot using iso-image.

So post, executed as root:
journalctl -b | grep -Ei "wlan|firm|rtw88|error
and
zypper lr -d
