Zypper repo '.../content' no longer exists

I’m trying to update Leap 15.6 before I upgrade to 16 but zypper ref fails because the repo structure no longer ends with /content. For example:

Download (curl) error for 'https://download.opensuse.org/update/leap/15.6/backports/x86_64/content':
   Error code: Connection failed

The types are all set to rpm-md in the .repo files and that type was listed in the output when I did zypper lr -d. In trying to resolve this issue I ran zypper clean --all and now they show as type N/A when listed, even though the type is still set in the .repo files.

If I visit the repo URLs without /content then I find them successfully.

I’ve tried removing the repos and re-adding them, but that made no difference.

Is there a way to perhaps update zypper to work with the updated repo structure?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

thanks for asking, here you go:

Whilst the type is showing as N/A in this output, all of the files in /etc/zypp/repos.d include the line type=rpm-md.

This is normal when a repo got recently added but never (successfully) refreshed.

Please also show the content of a .repo file via cat where the download/refresh fails.

Typical file:

[repo-oss]
name=Main Repository
enabled=1
autorefresh=1
baseurl=https://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/$releasever/repo/oss/
path=/
type=rpm-md
keeppackages=0

All of the files have eight lines, very similar to this.

And also show the complete in- and output of an update/refresh attempt.

The issue seems more your internet connection/DNS/proxy/other network related stuff:

Maybe
zypper -vvv ref
will show more, because downlaod.opensuse.org is a redirector.

But
Leap 15.6 is end of life.

thanks. I’m just investigating @hui s reply above. It seems that I can’t get to the internet from that server. It serves files, but perhaps only to another internal server.

Thank you @Sauerland and @hui - routing information on this server was missing, which was preventing it from reaching outside the local network. Once I resolved that zypper ref now works.
