Zypper and yast not working.

Hi guys,

I’m using opensuse 11.0 and wanted to upgrade to 11.1, then to 11.2. So when it came to reinstalling zypper, I had a power blackout. Once I turned on the computer again, I found that zypper was not working anymore. Every time I try to install anything it gives this error:

Target initialization failed:
Rpm exception

Yast2 also seems to be broken for some reason. Any icon I click gives an “xmessage” popup with this error:

terminate called after throwing an instance of ‘YUIPluginException’
what(): Couldn’t load plug-in gtk
YaST got signal 6 at YCP file SlideShow.ycp:76
/sbin/yast2: line 421: 4816 aborted

$ybindir/y2base $module “$@” “$SELECTED_GUI” $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2_ARGS

I’m freaking out. Can anybody help me? Thanks.

Download the zypper package manaually as .rpm

Install with

rpm -ihv *packagename --force

Thanks for your reply, but unfortunately that didn’t work either. I tried to install a newer version (for 11.1) but it says I’m missing some dependencies.

rpm -ihv package --force --nodeps

A power blackout is bad for upgrade. I hope you have got a backup of your system. Otherwise you can try to reinstall by CD/DVD.
