ZTE MF190 3G HSUPA USB Modem Configuration

Hello All,

I am nube to linux and I have installed Opensuse 12.3 in my Acer Travelmate Laptop, well the installation and getting around went well
I am using the ZTE MF190 USB dongle for internet and I don’t know how to configure it.
Some how managed to create a new mobile broadband connection in the KDE Control module and it got connected :open_mouth:
But the problem is that the modem is getting heated up than using in windows with the dialer came along with it and the connection speed is also less.
And the there is no other info available like signal strengh, data usage monitor etc which are available in the dialer in Windows.>:(

Can anyone help me to configure the MF190 dongle?

Thanks in advance,

If you’re able to get connected via the network manager, then you’ve configured the connection successfully. I’m currently using the same device to connect the Telecom XT mobile network, and I’m not experiencing any issues.

That limitation is essentially down to the kernel driver employed. (The MF190 chipset is supported by the ‘option’ driver.) I get no signal strength reported either. However, for my Telecom connection, I can navigate to a web page that instantly give me the data usage status, so no utility needed.
