Zoom had been working fine on this machine, (KDE) but today it fails. Since the installed version failed, I updated to the latest version from the zoom site, 5.1.422789.0705_openSUSE-1. It installed fine, like previous versions. When trying to start by clicking an icon, a window shows very briefly, then disappears. Starting in a terminal gives
howard@HP-oS15KDE:/opt/zoom> ./zoom
./zoom: /usr/lib64/libQt5Quick.so.5: version `Qt_5_PRIVATE_API' not found (required by ./zoom)
howard@HP-oS15KDE:/opt/zoom>
File /usr/lib64/libQt5Quick.so.5 exists as a link pointing to libQt5Quick.so.5.12.7.
This same version of zoom works fine on two other machines, both KDE, one 15.1, one 15.2.
What’s the fix?
Thanks,
Miuku

Does this system have additional 3rd party repositories enabled or possibly have mixed 42.x/15.x repositories?
Could you show us the output of
rpm -qf libQt5Quick.so.5
and possibly list of repos for this system
zypper lr -d
I’m wondering if they’re using their own specific Qt libraries that they’ve bundled with Zoom itself. Does /opt/zoom/ have libQtQuick.so.* ?

Try this;
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/zoom:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH && /opt/zoom/zoom
^ This from Unix Stackexchange where someone else ran into the same issue on another Linux distribution.

Thanks,
Zoom stopped working for me once I installed 15.2. It asks for xdg-open which stores my default browser but then will not open in whatever browser is in xdg-open. So I have given up on it on the desktop. Why it cannot work in any web-rt browser I do not know.

Hi
Instead or running zoom, run ZoomLauncher, if I run zoom I see the error, if run ZoomLauncher no error… If you look at the softlink in /usr/bin/zoom you will see what to run.

Solved. It was a graphics software problem. This system has an old nvidia graphics card using G03 series nvidia proprietary software. Since the 15.2 kernel no longer supports G03 drivers, I moved the monitor to the on-board graphics. When zoom was failing I got
