xorg server 1.9.0

the xorg-server 7.5_1.9.0-75.1 from repositories is not accepting the nvidia driver 256.44

info is:

this server is using video_abi_version = 8
your nvidia driver is using version 9

and that is in the 7.5_1.8.0-9.4

with the new nvidia driver 256.52

xorg server 7.5_1.9.0-75.1 from the repositories is working great

So PROLBEM SOLVED

Good News

It’s working fine here on the standard 11.3 x86_64 install with twin screens

Trying to install Nvidia on my 11.4 test system. .3 and .44 do not work
right.
Where did you find 256.52. I was on Nvidia website yesterday and only see
…35 and .44 and .53

I wonder if .53 is replacement for .52.

Thanks.

Xorg is coming from /repositories/X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.3

This combination is working great

Dont now the version of xorg in of 11.4 possibly you have to upgrade

New nvidia driver

The nvidia driver 256.53 also works great

Installed new Nvidia driver 256.53 from the nvidia repo with YaSt and all
went well. Display is working fine. Did not have to use hardway.

Just a heads up I had 1.9 running with the 256.53 driver worked great. Wanted to try newer kernel installed it using only the repos for the kernel, syms, source and zypper dup. Went to rebuild the driver and was missing a .h file so it failed. My dumbarse didn’t keep the old kernel basically bricked. noob mistake #1 !!!
