XDM and gnome keyring

linux gnome-keyring-daemon[2615]: couldn't access control socket: /run/user/1000/keyring/control: No such file or directory

linux su[2787]: gkr-pam: couldn't unlock the login keyring.
linux su[2787]: The gnome keyring socket is not owned with the same credentials as the user login: /run/user/1000/keyring/control

although, I’m not sure how that concluded, or what it implies I need to do.

XDM loads fine and so does xfce, but when I open chromium I get
a gnome keyring popup asking me to enter a password because the keyring wasn’t unlocked.
I can press cancel, and continue anyhow.

Normally, the Gnome keyring is opened if you use “gdm” or “lightdm” for login. But it is not opened for other login device managers. Maybe the pam configuration can be tweaked. But switching to “lightdm” or “gdm” would be a simpler alternative.

Thanks. I was using lightdm before and switched back to it.

The “gnome-keyring-daemon” entry doesn’t appear, and I don’t get the popup later.
However, the su entries still appear.
