i recently tried to install opensuse 12.1. but i got error message
checksum is wrong in /var/cache/zypp/raw/openSUSE-12.1-12.1-.4TnjOfS/suse/setup/descr/packages.gz

when i choose “use it anyway” it says broken pipe and installation gets aborted.

is there any way to resolve this problem?.

yes.

do not install from a garbage disk…“Garbage in, garbage out!”
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GIGO> is still true.

  1. check the iso you download with md5 or sha1
    <http://doc.opensuse.org/documentation/html/openSUSE/opensuse-startup/art.osuse.installquick.html>

  2. then burn on GOOD media at the slowest possible

  3. then self test the install media itself like here

never install from faulty media…

Mp3 is not a free as in speech program and thus is not included. This is openSUSE

mp3 is protected by a license that does not allow openSUSE to include
it, it would be illegal. The reasoning is here:

Restricted formats

And here you have a bypass:

(community)
Restricted formats](http://opensuse-community.org/Restricted_formats)

What we do is basically install those things from packman. gogalthorp
gives another link.
