Wireshark not working as root

when running wireshark - superuser mode it no longer prompts me for my superuser password and instead just runs it in user mode. when running in terminal as sudo or even gksudo i get this error. ` ** (wireshark:1287) 23:36:01.545998 [GUI CRITICAL] – This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, xcb.
`
and yes i have googled it many different times and i have reinstalled it as well.

Don’t try to run it like that. Instead make sure that the user is a member of the wireshark group first.
