WinXP fails to play video as a guest system on VirtualBox

Greetings, colleagues.

I’ve installed WinXP on VirtualBox 4.1.8 (from Virtualization repo). The installed WinXP fails to all play video files. It shows white screen in video player (Media Player Classic from K-Lite codec pack and Windows Media Player) and plays sound. It seems the size of white screen in video players corresponds to the size of movie played. Video also fail to play in PowerPoint presentations.

Does anyone have the same problem? Please, help.

Host OS: OpenSuse 12.1 64 bit.
The VBox extension pack and guest additions for WinXP are installed.

Best regards, Aleksey.

Thanks you for your reply.

I can play those videos in host OpenSUSE. But they fail to play in guest Windows either in VirtualBox or VMWare Player. It’s about all videos played in PowerPoint.

LibreOffice fails to play videos in ppt.

What kind of videos are they? You might need to install the codecs for them, these are not all provided by default.

LibreOffice fails to play videos in ppt.

LibreOffice gets mixed results playing PPT videos. What are you using to play them on your Windows guest? You can try installing the free viewer from MS.
