I have no room in my head for any more usernames or passwords. So, I’m asking here.
I was trying to run a cat reader. I clicked inside the ark file. It gave me a prompt to download and install something. I had to exit. I copied the xcatreader into the install directory for linux. Clicked on the file and displayed this. I searched for the error and I can’t make any sense of the instructions.
There are two files one requires .net 2.0. The other .net 4.0
wine XRCatExtract.exe
err:mscoree:CLRRuntimeInfo_GetRuntimeHost Wine Mono is not installed
why not use kde’s KDE wallet manager rather then a mixed mode win32-.net app under wine?
if the above app is pure dot net you should be able to run it under mono not wine
mono XRCatExtract.exe
assuming you have mono installed the above should work
X Rebith Cat reader-43-1-0 view ark
LibRebirth.dll Readme.txt RebirthCatReader.exe Sources.rar
XRCatExtract-19-1-3
src XRCatExtract.exe
Both of these have sources, can someone in the linux community build/convert this with a GUI? The sources are available. GOG supports the Debian version.
mono XRCatExtract.exe
extracted the files but I can’t find them. I can’t find any help command. I think I found the directory.
mono RebirthCatReader.exe
Could not set X locale modifiers
libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile
libpng warning: iCCP: cHRM chunk does not match sRGB
libpng warning: iCCP: known incorrect sRGB profile
libpng warning: iCCP: cHRM chunk does not match sRGB
I can’t get it to go to a valid directory in my home dir.
C:\Program Files (x86)\ does not exist under Linux and mono can not understand that path you can’t use this app natively under Linux the only way is under wine
I’ve never ran Steam so I’m guessing that you have both Steam and X Reberth installed under wine if you are having issues with wine-mono I’d recommend installing the net framework 3.5 and try running that app under wine again https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21
you should remove wine-mono as it will conflict with .net from MS so you must run (the native mono has no influence on wine)
The GOG linux installer did work, but it wouldn’t start. I found the game directory where the dat files are held.
Copied XRCatExtract.exe to the game directory.
>mono XRCatExtract.exe
That extracted all the data files, but I they were in the folder level above the game directory.
Data files: ~/GOG Games/X Rebirth/game>
Extracted to: ~/GOG Games/XR_ext>
I figured out why wine didn’t work.
Copied LibRebirth.dll and RebirthCatReader.exe to game directory.
Installed wine and entered command
wine RebirthCatReader.exe
It showed same missing mono error. I found out how to install wine-mono in opensuse. I added the repo and installed wine mono. It showed the same error. So, I unstalled wine and installed it again. This time it installed wine and wine-mono. It worked, GUI menu!
Couldn’t find it at first. It’s under the z drive. I navigated to the game directory. ‘Not a valid path for x rebirth’. Looks like it’s app limitation. Unless someone writes a linux GUI version of RebirthCatReader.exe. The XRCatExtract.exe does work with the linux version.
I_A>the problem with that app is that it uses hardcoded paths even if it was recompiled with mono under Linux it would still look for input files in
I tried various methods, trying to get the formatting of the files right. It looks like this works only with the mswin steam version. This APP is impractical for the linux GOG version. See mentioned file.
