Window minimize, maximize and close buttons hidden in openSUSE 11.3 KDE in FF, Desktop Settings, and

I am facing a strange problem. The close, maximize, minimize buttons are hidden in firefox, desktop settings, etc in KDE but in Gnome everything is normal. I tried disabling the desktop effects but in vain. I have installed the ATI drivers as well.

Hi,

Do you still have the titlebars? And are you using Compiz or Kwin as your window manager? Also, which version of KDE?

Title bar is hidden too, compiz and kde 4.4.4…Gnome does not have a problem at all…

Right,

So how did you install compiz? Or did you just pick it up from having Gnome?

it got installed with gnome…even with the KDE install/remove —all the compiz apps installed

Alright, so in KDE, open the CompizConfig Settings Manager (CCSM) and find the Window Decoration Plugin. Put a check next to it and click into it. Remove anything next to the Command: box and type in:

emerald --replace

Then click the application launcher and click on Configure Desktop (Personal Settings). Find the Default Application entry and choose Window Manager. Choose Use other window manager and choose Compiz (not compiz custom) from the dropdown menu. Click apply and let the screen refresh. Click apply changes and you should be good to go.

Take Care,

Ian
