Why doesn't Microsoft Teams doesn't appear on application menu?

So after a **fresh install **of openSUSE Tumbleweed(KDE). I downloaded the microsoft teams rpm package from microsoft and installed it using

 sudo zypper install teams*.rpm

.

Now the application itself runs fine, but it can be executed only from the terminal, there is no shortcut for it in the application menu. How can i fix this? I’ve also installed gimp using zypper but the same problem affects gimp too.

Running 15.2

I installed also (but I am not sure how exactly, probbaly in the same way as you), but it is in the Internet section of the mian menu as Microsoft Teams - Preview. I have no idea why the “Preview” though. Also I had considarable problems in letting it stop. It re-emerged at every KDE login until I in some way managed to silence it.

Hi Henk,
The issue was solved when I manually added the application(teams) to the application menu. The “Preview” that you see is common among Linux, I used elementaryOS before and the “Preview” suffix was there for teams.(I guess it’s like that because it’s still in beta for Linux??)

Anyway the problem is now solved.

(BTW, to solve the auto-start problem of teams, just go to the teams settings(in-app itself) and disable auto-start. Teams work as as good as it should for me now)

Fine you got it working.

I am not realy fond of the whole thing. To begin with I mistrust anything MicroSoft. It also seems that it thinks about itself as being very important by setting it to restart on login even if I have switched it off before logout. But as said, I managed to kill that. We will see how I fight with it again when I need it in September :(.

my kids school is now using it for remote teaching.
