After running zypper dup that included a kernel update this morning, I rebooted and my machine was running at 1080 x 760 resolution instead of 4K. I reinstalled nvidia driver 575.65.05 and after the install finished, I used the command systemctl start xdm.service.
The desktop that showed up was the stock wallpaper with a small console window in the upper left corner that wouldn’t accept any keyboard input. I rebooted and got my usual desktop back.
Can anyone tell me why I got that unusual desktop? Do I need to use another command for a Wayland session than the one I used?
