Where do you share your Tips & Tricks?

Hi.

Today I had an issue regarding a bluetooth speaker not properly configured as audio output on Leap 16. I spent some time trying to solve the problem until I finally found it. The speaker connected successfully and I did not see any bluetooth connection issues, but there was something messed with role assignment (see https://github.com/bluez/bluez/issues/2280), so I was not able to select the speaker as an audio output (the only profile pactl list cards listed was audio-gateway). The workaround provided in that GitHub issue worked and now I can enjoy some good audio quality.

This led me wondering, where do you guys share your tips & tricks while using openSUSE? I took a look at some forum entries here but did not find the exact issue. But you know, I think it is nice to have a place to share this kind of stuff when no one asked before.

Back in the day, I also remember that upgrading the Leap 15.3 kernel using the backports repo fixed my Wi-Fi card from not working (there was a driver, but the issue was fixed later in a kernel update, if I remember correctly). I had this issue with all the distros back in those days. Ubuntu and Mint had the ā€˜Additional Driversā€™ tool, which made it much more straightforward for me since I was somewhat new in Linux world.

What Iā€™ve read quite a few times , is that folks will post their thread with "[ Solution] " in the title. (or How-To, or Solved).

You can choose the Category, i.e., Install/Boot/Login, or Applications, or Games, or Multimedia, etc.

For example, for a title:
ā€œ[ Solved ] How I configured Audio output to play my Bluetooth Speakerā€
ā€¦ or ā€¦

ā€œ[ Solved ] How I configured my Bluetooth Speaker for proper Audio outputā€

There use to have in the oldā€¦old forum and now itā€™s gone.
You could probably put your tips in the multimedia section.

You can create your own wiki pages, by creating en.opensuse.org/User:<username_here> as a main page and creating child pages. That way you wonā€™t hurt the rest of the wiki, but still have nice links to share here or where ever. The biggest problem of wikis is that you have to maintain them. Your ā€œmethod/solution/workaroundā€ might be wonderful today, but actually bork things in a year. If it is bound to your own User: page, that would make it more of your personal pages then official wiki.
