What's the difference between pacman and packman. I thought both wew the same!

Are packmans like pacmans or zypper or---------------

im so confused sorry

Hmm. “packman” is a site that maintains some packages, as used by openSUSE users and others.

If I recall, “pacman” is the package manager for Arch and a few other distros. I’m not sure whether it is also the name of a video game.

So is packman just like the ppa repositories in ubuntu?

No, the packman repo is more similar to the Restricted repo that Ubuntu provides…
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories#RestrictedThe Packman repo is described here…

ohh. Thank you, makes sense

I think that when you see “pacman” here in the openSUSE forums, then that is in 99% of the cases just a typo of people who wanted to type “Packman”.

Yeah , most of my confusion started with when searching about packman and many of the results were about pacman and many forums and reddit pacman and packman were confused :
when i typed packman search engine always autocorrects it to pacman :expressionless:

Lousy search engine >:)

I just tested them

Google , DuckduckGo , Bing and Yandex all of them autocorrect >:(

I don’t observe that here. Perhaps it depends on your browser language setting?

On the Google search for Packman I get mostly results for an Ortlieb backpack. rotfl!

LOL

An interesting read…
