Hello, I would like to know what kind of encryption opensuse uses by default when activating disk encryption in the partition manager.
Can somebody help me with that?
Hello and welcome here.
Can you please tell a bit more aboutt whta you have and use? People always like to hear which version of openSUSE. Also you talk about a Partition Manager, but there are more of them. Do you use YaST > System > Partition Manager? Or are you talking about the Partition Manager you use during installation (which is btw the same, but in a different situation)?
Never assume that in Unix/Linux everybody does things the same way as you think it being “logical” to do it. There are most of the times more (or even many) ways to do things. Thus please always explain.
Thanks for the reply.
My system is openSUSE 13.2
And yes I’m using the YAST partition manager. I forgot to mention that.
Hello
Have a look here: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Encrypted_filesystems
I don’t know anything about encrypted storage devices but know that there are some different methods of encrypting those, encfs is a different approach than what I suppose you’re after.
To pull a guess out of my bum I’d wager twofish256.
