What is the password for opensuse LTSP live cd??

Hey,

can anyone please tell me the default password for the OpenSuse LTSP Live cd? because i boot t but i cannot find out what the darn password is… So can anyone tell me PLZ??

Crash

Have you had a look at the ltsp.org site?

yes, i cannot find it, if anyone can reply and tell me the password please, because i can boot up but i cannot access programs because i dont have or no the pwd,

If this is still applicable, the usernames are linux1, linux2, linux3, linux4 and linux5. All passwords are linux. root has no password. This and additional information can be found at:
Education/Live - openSUSE NOT ltsp.org. Each distro has their own iteration of LTSP, so redirecting someone to the extremely outdated ltsp.org site is unacceptable. Whych, in the future, please provide a better answer or don’t answer at all. This page is the first listing on Google, so it is important we provide informative answers so others searching for this information can find it quickly as these passwords are not provided on the live-cd, nor are they documented with the live-cd download links at: LTSP - openSUSE, which can be quite frustrating for new users.

and why are they not documented ON the download page, or in a readme
within the download, or in a quick start guide, or ANYWHERE the
potential user might reasonably be expected to LOOK for them…and not
have to ASK here!!

where we might give an unacceptable redirection to a non-current site,
as non-current and unhelpful as our own opensuse.org page???

Well:

  • The Buildservice doesn’t allow to add “random” files like READMEs to the download area.
  • Putting informations in the welcome screen for new users doesn’t help always, as the users need to login first to see their password
  • Putting the information on the media could be done, but as history shows, nobody reads any file which is just available in the ISO image resp. on the burned DVD.

But nevertheless, we can try to solve your problem by doing the three steps mentioned above in some way. But please don’t expect a fast solution.

Or - taking it the other way round: where do you expect the username - password list exactly?

=> please provide the exact URL for the list
=> please provide the exact place in the ISO file
=> please provide a place on the desktop

Anything I missed?

With kind regards,
Lars

> But nevertheless, we can try to solve your problem

it is not my problem, it is a new user problem…

i see that someone (i suspect you, thank you) has begun by recently
adding the bare minimum to the SOAD and openSUSE 11.1 entries on this
page: http://en.opensuse.org/Live_CD

BRAVO!!

but, i do wonder which of the other’s listed there also require the
same, or different id/pass…

and, i freely acknowledge that if we could tattoo the id/pass on the
back of all potential users hands, they STILL couldn’t find
it…however here is an example:
http://en.opensuse.org/Education/Live/Install

in this live install help, scroll down to the fifth screen
shot…which shows a dialog saying “The requested action needs further
authentication…Please enter the root password to continue.” and a
blank to type in the root password…

yes, there is helpful information written on the install web page
saying “Password is empty, just hit ‘Continue’”…which is perfect
information, just NOT where the user will need it…the new user who
has not seen that web page will get to that install dialog without a
clue…

why not give a clue? change the dialog from “Please enter the root
password to continue” to “The default root password is empty, so just
hit ‘Continue’”

then, at least a user who can read can get past that section…
(and it is easier than paying for all those tattoos on the backs of
hands of all mankind across the planet:-)
