Hi all! I just recently moved over to openSUSE Tumbleweed from Linux Mint and I have been having an absolutely lovely time.
This is not OS specific, but I would really like some opinions.
I have a pretty high-end computer. My partner likes having their own profile with their own home folder, and I like mine as well. We also have a very similar taste in games, which means sometimes they want to play stuff on my computer. In the past, we would just install two copies of the same game, one in each home directory. This feels like a very silly use of storage space, and would like to work around that.
My objective is this:
-
I want to be able to install a game using a launcher like
heroic or steam, once and only once. -
I would like launchers to automatically update the games like
normal, preferably without needing root privileges -
I am okay with bother computer profiles sharing an online-
account, and this would likely be the most convenient option. -
I am okay with each user sharing a , I would prefer game-data folder for
things like settings & save files to be unique to computer profiles, but would concede to them being in one shared folder if needed. -
I like the conveniences that come along with using Heroic and Steam as individual launchers, but would be willing to consider alternative launchers as long as they
- Facilitate automatic updates
- Autonomously create Windows file-paths on install where necessary
- Can connect directly to online accounts like GoG or Steam.
How do you think I could best solve this?
