I use GDM on GNOME and for hyprland (tty 1) and servers, just the tty to login…
Edit, to clarify my Hyprland login it’s a script in /etc/profile.dcalled hyprland.sh containing;

greetd is not really a displaymanager, rather a login manager daemon. Correct me if I am wrong.

With polls the issue is always that editing / changing the poll will invalidate results so far, right? The only thing you can do is leave it as is and find reasonable way to deal with the results. But, no wories.
I do wonder what the goal of the poll is. Or is it something you want to know? If so, how many replies do you want before you attach some value to the result?

I wonder if there is a vast majority for GDM oder SDDM? Or if it is distributed equally more or less? If the “little players” get some votes?
The result may not be representive. There are also user who are not interested in screenshot and fastfetch threads or polls and will not vote. Several hundreds of votes would be necessary to gain a vague picture.
Also the part of users which use several VMs for testing/bug triaging/other puposes. use by nature several different DMs. So they also kind of muddy up the pure numbers.
Likewise as a GNOME user, one could surmise that not many GNOME users login to the Forum because they don’t have issues

I agree. We’ve done quite some surveys and the hard thing always is to decide what number of responses makes it relevant. What amazed me about ( also here with some kind-a-like ) polls, how many people create an account to vote in the poll and never return. On the other hand, there is a huge majority that does use $releasever of openSUSE but don’t vote at all.
Basically you won’t get much more than an impression of what voters use, not what users use. Not really numbers that you could use as a good base to come to conclusions. Implementing the slightest anonymous opt-in telemetry in the past led to flame wars, resistance. And though I am not pro-telemetry it is the only way to get relevant data. It is what it is.

I always preferred KDM. It was simple, and remembered separately for each user which desktop they preferred.
I never much cared for SDDM. I find it annoying that there is no “per-user” memory of the preferred desktop.
I have mainly use GDM, because it does have a per-user memory. I have occasionally used LIGHTDM (and for the same reason).
With Leap 16.0, I am using GDM on one system, but SDDM on the others. The trouble with GDM in Leap 16.0, is that it only supports Wayland and not X11.
I mainly use KDE, with Icewm as a backup. So SDDM is automatically installed. It requires extra steps to install GDM or LIGHTDM. So I guess I will mostly put up with SDDM.
In 6 months your KDE will be the same. Plasma 6.8 will no longer run on X11. And, no numbers here, but IME most anti-Wayland users actually turn around from that after seeing that their objections are no longer valid. That is not some openSUSE thing, it is an upstream decision.
I’m not anti-Wayland. I normally do use Wayland with KDE. But I occasionally use Icewm, and I don’t think that has any Wayland support. And I occasionally login to KDE with X11, just for testing. So I don’t like that GDM does not support this.
If it counts: I use plasma-login-manager

I didn’t spot any way to associate my “other” with the “other” selection I made. My primary PC naturally still uses KDM3 because KDE3 is my main DE, but my other installations are predominantly about evenly split between KDE3 and TDE, which are fungible as long as not attempting use of TDM for KDE3 or KDM3 for TDE. I have small numbers using LightDM or XDM (directly), and fewer using SDDM, which will disappear along with all but one of my few remaining Plasmas when 6.8 appears. I wasn’t aware Entrance or LXDM existed until visiting this thread. My last GDM disappeared last century.
What nonsense are you peddling now, felix? sddm isn’t going anywhere. Plasma-Login-Manager existing doesn’t mean anything for sddm.
They’re two different things.
sddm wasn’t ever a KDE project, it’s always been, and still remains independent, and still remains the default display/login manager for both Plasma and LXQt on openSUSE.
It’s leaving my computers, going away from here (like Plasma will whenever 6.8 replaces 6.7 in TW, while I never allowed Plasma or SDDM into 16.0 here in the first place).
ISTR KDE abandoned KDM in favor of SDDM, so SDDM might as well have been KDE’s own project, being the default DM with Plasma installations most places I’m aware of.
