What did happen to the printer configuration Yast module?

I know that Yast lacks maintenance, but I would like to know exactly why has the printer configuration module disappeared.
It was very convenient.

Yast printer module not on desktop anymore -- was there a few days ago

I have to use yast-printer to re-enable my printer as it keeps getting unenabled. I find the yast-printer module (under hardware) is gone. I last used it a couple of days ago. It is not listed anymore in yast patterns. I use mate desktop and “printer” has not moved to mate control center. I don’t think I am hallucinating. Where did yast-printer go? tom kosvic

Yast printer was good, really really good sadly it came to an end but there is alternatives and I can’t complain with that. xfce has a nice gui for printer config.

I actually haven’t used the YaST printer module for years. Over time, much of what it did became less relevant as printing has changed.

Most modern network printers support driverless printing using protocols (IPP Everywhere, AirPrint and Mopria), so for most users CUPS requires no explicit printer configuration, provided the firewall allows printer discovery over mDNS /DNS-SD.

For older or more specialised printers, manufacturers typically provide their own drivers and sometimes config utilities. HP is a good example. HPLIP includes both the drivers and its own configuration and maintenance tools.

CUPS provides its own web administration interface, and both KDE Plasma and GNOME include graphical printer configuration tools that integrate with CUPS.
