Webapps

Hello Opensuse lovers…

I am looking for a possibility to have internet sites in a window without borders like the “Webapps” function in Linux Mint.
Is there a similar function in Opensuse?

As far as I can tell webapps-manager (I assume you mean this application) simply runs Firefox with suitable CSS: https://github.com/linuxmint/webapp-manager/blob/master/usr/share/webapp-manager/firefox/profile/chrome/userChrome.css; you could do the same - create separate profile, put CSS in it and look how it works. OK, it adds bookmarks manager on top of it, but these bookmarks apparently are kept in the same Firefox profile at the end.

I am not sure what it has to do with “webapps” to be honest. If you mean something different, please be more specific.

As for webapps-manager - it should be relatively straightforward to package it, could be suitable beginner project.

Hi @arvidjaar,

Thanks for your answer. Sorry, my question was not very precise. I menat this function:

The function came into Linux Mint in August, 2020. It is described in the middle under “**WebApp Manage”
**It would be nice to have a similar function in Opensuse. I find it quiet helpful.

I installed OpenSUSE Leap, yesterday on my laptop. I’m using the Pantheon desktop which has Plank as a bottom dock. I wanted Google Keep and Google Calendar on the doc, as they interact with my Google Nest Hub Display. I wasn’t able to find a webapp manager but I found something else.

By default, there is a browser that was installed with this DE called “Web”. This is the same browser that used to be called Epiphany. It’s a free, open-source browser. It has a big gear icon at the top right of the browser that you can click and create a webapp of whatever site you are on.

When I launched Keep and Calendar, I was able to right-click on them to add them to my dock. They also appear in the application’s menu/launcher.

You can learn more about the browser on their wikipedia page:
