WCAG Dark theme use of 'code tags' is not visibly highlighting

Thanks for the feedback; I don’t believe we’ve made any changes from the default WCAG Dark theme (it’s a standard theme in Discourse installations), but I’ll have a look later today.

KDE Discuss forums appears to use Discourse forums also, using WCAG Dark theme behavior is the same. So possibly my fault for bringing this up? It is very difficult to see the code though when using WCAG Dark theme. Perhaps my eyes are dimming out.

Nah, no “fault” to be had here. Good to know we didn’t miss something, and that maybe there’s an improvement to be made upstream.

I think something has changed. I haven’t that WCAG Dark theme (I do not even know what it is), but I also see a difference as noted above. In short: earlier I only saw fixed font, now I also see it on a light grey (x’f0f0f0’) background.
I can understand that that change shows different on different “themes”.

FWIW, upstream discussion on the same…

In particular refer post #2 of that topic.

Yes, that was my assumption too.

If you are interested in trying out WCAG Dark theme:

  1. Login to openSUSE forums
  2. Click on your user icon (top right of screen)
  3. Click on bottom option ‘profile’
  4. Click preferences
  5. Click interface
Under ‘Color Palette’ see ‘Regular’ then select WCAG Dark
  6. Scroll down to bottom and save changes

I had not noticed this change mentioned in post #2.

When setting up my user profile (a year ago), I chose WCAG Dark and it seemed to work well and look decent to me. At this time I believe something has changed recently as far as highlighting codeblocks when WCAG Dark is used.

I was previously unaware that WCAG DARK seems to be a sort of high contrast theme for enhanced visibility. Also that Discourse has alot going on with their development it seems.

I created a post here :< WCAG Dark theme codeblock highlighting changed? - Support - Discourse Meta

Thanks, but I am not.

The WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) themes are used for those who have visual impairments (typically) for whom the default color schemes may not work (it’s a standard part of Discourse, as I mentioned before).

As for the font change - there was apparently a font change with our last update, but the way the Discourse works, a lot is loaded into the local browser, and if you have cached info, it can behave unpredictably at times. It’s rare that it does, but I find that when it does, a hard refresh usually resolves the issue (it causes the local app to reload).

Well, I am not complaining. I can see the “code” now better then before, not only fixed font, but also light-grey background. I am only explaining that something changed “deeper” then the theme used by the OP. It influences also other (all?) themes. I tried to avoid that the cause of the problem is sought for at the wrong place.
