Starting vmware installler 17.0.2 on tumbleweed 20230713 gives the followwing output :
Extracting VMware Installer…done.
The VMware Installer cannot continue if there are running virtual
machines. Shut down or suspend running virtual machines before
continuing. Press ‘enter’ to continue.:
this is on freshly booted DELL XPS 15 2018 . Checked with ps that there are no instances
of vmware running
Any ideas what makes the installer thinking that there is a running vmware ?
on a new AMD 7xxx system and and older Intel Skylake system there was no problem to install vmware 17.0.2
What happens when you press Enter?
Maybe execute the installer from a command line to see if there are any clues in output .
This is the output when running from command line ( as root)
I have the same issue
sudo ./VMware-Workstation-Full-17.0.2-21581411.x86_64.bundle
