I have a fresh install of Leap 42.3 using Gnome. Uninstalled VLC, and reinstalled from Packman Repository. Now when I click on a video file, which defaults to open using VLC, I get nothing. ps -aef | grep vlc shows that vlc was started from a file. But nothing is displayed on the desktop.
Previously when I started VLC usign Activities, Search, “VLC”. Again nothing was display.
Opening a terminal and typing vlc [enter] works. But nothing worked when started from Gnome.
I just killed the job that was started from a file and did not display. Now both clicking the file or selecting VLC from Activities both methods work. I had made certain that VLC was not running when I deleted it and reinstalled from the Packman Repo.
