VirtualBox 7.1.0 can't boot Windows Host - failed to load Windows Boot Manager

Hi,

This is my first post on this forum, so I would like to apologize, if i do not follow the rules.

I’m facing a problem with latest update of virtual box. I can’t start any of the Windows based virtual machines. Doesn’t matter which version of Windows. All after reboot ends in the same place (see picture below). I’ve been googling for the whole morning without any luck. Thank you in advance for any suggestions how to solve the problem.

I’ve try to start the same virtual machine in windows host machine with VirtualBox 7.1.4 installed and it works fine.

System:

❯ uname -a
Linux T14 6.11.2-1-default #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri Oct 4 17:37:58 UTC 2024 (38c846e) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Virtual box version:

7.1.0_SUSE r164728
❯ sudo systemctl status vboxdrv.service

After update to version 7.1.4, problem is gone. However, now I can’t connect any USB device to the VM? Any ideas?

VB requires an additional proprietary fdriver for USB get from VB web site

This information is no longer valid. USB support is fully built into VB since v 7. No extension pack needed…only for some legacy MS Windows guests.

Maybe you need updated Guest Additions? (Looks like it is a Windows guest?)

It’s noting to do with Guest Additions. /dev/vboxusb folder is always empty and when starting virtualbox manager for the first time I’m receiving this error message.

Failed to enumerate host USB devices.
Could not load the Host USB Proxy service: VERR_NOT_FOUND.

I’m trying to find out what that means but no luck so far,
