I am happy to report that VirtualBox 7.0.4 has been released to Tumbleweed users. If you use the extension pack, be sure to install it after the update and before starting virtualbox.
It installs cleaner if you remove the 6.1.38 versions and then install the 7.0.4 version - it just removes the old kernel modules that are not in use. Be sure to stop all guest and the GUI if you do this.
It is still in QA for Leap users - there are 15.3, 15.4 and 15.5 in the queue to be released.
There are not as many machines to QA 15.3 and 15.4 as there are for Tumbleweed.
Be patient, it is in the queue for all users.
I have tested 5 flavors of Linux guests and Windows 10 and 11 with no problems found.
The GUI sort option does not stay between running the GUI. - bug has been submitted to Oracle to fix that.
I noticed this to late, is there still a way to get the latest 6.x version back ?
I have a windows 10 client which refuses to login on VB7, it boots but when the login comes I get the boot screen again which freezes.
This also happens on a windows 10 host, so still investigating this.
Sorry, the thread is about tumbleweed, so I am using that as guest.
But as I said had the same thing happens on a windows 10 host with a copy of the same windows 10 guest.
So seems so be an issue with the 6.x guest drivers installed on a windows 10 guest with 3D enabled. Disable the 3D, boot in, update guest adding drivers and turn 3D on.
This thread has tumbleweed as tag, so yes, I am using tumbleweed as a host.
But same issue happend with the same windows 10 guest running on a windows 10 host.
Seems to be issue with the guest addon of 6.x installed, 3d enabled that caused the lockup at login screen.
I did not see that issue as I had save the Windows 10 machine state, installed 7.0.4 and rebooted, restarted the Windows 10 and installed the 7.0.4 guest additions.
The Oracle Virtualbox site suggest what Xil figured out as the cure for 6.0 guest additions with 3D enabled running in 7.0.x.
It is hard to try every combination of options. I try to see any issues and did not catch this one.
