VIM: Missing netrw*.vim files in autoload has broken gx

Hi,

I’m not sure which update broke VIM’s gx command to open files and hyperlinks but the netrw*.vim files are missing in /usr/share/vim/vim92/autoload/.

I’ve tested the command on Debian, Fedora and Arch (same version) and all work and have the files in said folder.

Anyone else having the same problem? If so, do you know which update broke it? I use the command monthly and have no idea when it went awry.

Many thanks as always.

PS. I know there are workarounds and hacks, but I’d like to hold off and solve the problem, or at least report it in the right place.

After some digging, the netrw* files are not the issue. An update sometime in March broke it. I tested a read only snapshot from early March and it worked as expected.

Not sure why it’s only occurring (for me) on openSUSE. File the bug with VIM or openSUSE? VIM seems obvious.

I tracked down the snapshots to when VIM broke the gx command:

openSUSE Tumbleweed 20260317-0 -> 20260324-0 (after the Packman debacle).
