Fresh 12.3 install, not sure what I did to cause this but now every time the computer is rebooted and I auto-login to my KDE desktop I get this message in a popup window:
usr/bin/kactivitymanagerd -session (followed by a string of around 100 letters/numbers) requires ROOT password to continue.
I can either put in the root password or ignore/close it.
How do I go about figuring out what is causing this prompt, and killing it?
It seems you have started kactivitymanagerd as root and logged out with it running. KDE now wants to restore it on login.
To kill it, press Ctrl+ESC, type “kactivitymanagerd” in the search field, select it and click on “End Process…”
If that doesn’t help, run “Configure Desktop”, enter “Start and Quit” (you may have to scroll down, it’s nearly at the end)->Session Management, and select “Start with an empty session”. After a reboot you can switch that back to “Restore previous session” so your running programs are restarted on login.
