USB Keyboard in GRUB

I’m duel booting SUSE and xp, and when it gets into GRUB and asks me where I’d like boot I have to have a PS2 keyboard handy as my usb keyboard is not responsive. Is there a way to fix this so I can be ps2 free?

More often than not this is down to your computer BIOS settings, you will
need to enter the bios on boot ( normally the Del key or F1, F2 but could be
others ) and look for USB settings.

There are loads of different wordings, could be legacy keyboard support or
just keyboard, on mine it is labelled as:

USB keyboard support (MS-dos)

and also there is an entry for:

USB Mouse support (MS-dos)

I can tell you, that on many systems that will not work. Much more simple is the usage of a USB to PS2 converter plug. Most manufacturors ship one with USB keyboards, at least in Europe
