USB connection of sony xperia z1 compact don't works

on my PC=Dell latitude E6510, RAM=8Gb, GPU=GT218 NVS 3100M, CPU=i7 Q 720 @ 1.60GHz, OS=opensuse 13.1 KDE= 4.14.3 if I connect via USB my phone sony Z1 compact with android 4.4.4 setting the phone to use MSC protocol dolphin gives this error:

if I set the phone to use MTP protocol nothing happens and nothing appear in available devices in the system tray.

if I connect my samsung S4 mini with android 4.4.2 it works, and it seems it doesn’t allow to choose from MTP and MSC protocol.

This is no solution but USB Android connections are explained here. Seems USB Mass Storage connections are no longer supported for reasons that make sense to the developers/owners. I am using FTP when I have a local wifi connection or USB OTG on the road.
