Unwanted auto restart after shutdown/ power off ?

Hello,

what can be the reason for unwanted automatic restart after shutdown/ power off ?
which settings should be checked etc. ?
Fresh installation of Leap 42.1 64.

thanks

It triggers something in my mind, but I am not sure. Looked through some notes I made over time, but can not find it.

Very vague, but could it have something to do with Wake On LAN (WOL)? Did you experiment with those settings e.g. using ethtool?

How long after shutdown and what are your BIOS settings for action after
power fail?

It is some time ago, but I had a system that restarted a minute or so
after shutdown which was cured by replacing the CMOS battery. My
conclusion was that the combination of a low battery level and standby
power caused a power restore to be falsely detected - the BIOS was set
to power on after fail.

thanks, I’ ll try and check both suggestion.
But the battery fits my PCs age

In fact PeeGee’s post triggers something. In combination with my WOL testing (long ago), I did change a BIOS setting and got that immediate switch on of the power after power off.

But when you do not remember that you tested WOL, I assume I am on the wrong track here.

OK, it was BIOS setupt, now shuts down to power off.

I did not found WakeOnNet or similar.
I disabled the following:
ACPI configuration/ PCI Device Power ON
ACPI configuration/ RTC A…? Power On
ACPI configuration/ OSC Control

btw. Is there a simple way to backup all the BIOS settings to a file on, let say USB stick.
I assume this information gets lost on battery change, richt ?
