"Unknown error occured. If the issue persists, please contact support." Proton VPN

Hey guys! I installed protonvpn with zypper install protonvpn-cli and trying to sign in gives me this error message:
Unknown error occured. If the issue persists, please contact support.
I tried using the RPM package from website and the gui version as well as reinstalling the app but nothing worked! I also made a new account to test if it was just an error on mine, but nothing changed
Anyone know why this is happening? I’m a complete noob to linux, so please explain it to me like I’m 5!

KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.9
openSUSE Leap 15.5

Thanks!

I can’t offer a solution to your problem I’m afraid, but if it’s any consolation I’ve never been able to get the thing to work either (on Tumbleweed) !

I always connect to Proton VPN via Wireguard, which for me works flawlessly. Have you given it a try? You’ll need first to install the package wireguard-tools which is in the main OSS repo,
then create one or more Wireguard configuration files and move them to /etc/wireguard/.
Here’s a link to Proton’s page:
https://protonvpn.com/support/wireguard-configurations/

Thank you!! I’ll try it out!

The strange this is that it used to work like half a year ago and then just broke.

I have the same issue and couldnt figure out how to fix it.

Hello, I install it on all my computers with Yast.
I also use OpenSuse Leap 15.5 with Plasma 5.27.9.
Remove that version of protonvpn.
Remove files in your home /.cache/protonvpn/ and /.config/protonvpn/
install with Yast

execute
protonvpn-cli login "yourusername"

to connect
protonvpn-cli c

salut!

Thank you for all the suggestions, guys! Connecting through wireguard worked
I also uninstalled my older versions with yast and deleted my cache and config
