Unable to mount Sony Camera

Hi all,
i plug my camera into my laptop and it won’t mount the camera’s memory, when i plug the memory card directly to the laptop it mounts without problems.
please note that i didn’t have this issue on ubuntu

can anyone suggest the following:

  1. a good DIVx/ wmv and DVD movies player?
  2. audio/ mp3/ wav player

In general (not Sony camera specific) some times it is a setting in the camera that needs to be changed. Sometimes an ‘auto’ setting for the interface needs to be changed to something else (or visa versa).

I don’t see such option in my camera’s setting section, also i didn’t have to set this option for ubuntu!
